The Scheck Charitable Foundation will be launching a matching donation program the first two weeks of September 2025. Contributions to the Foundation will be matched 1:1 up to a maximum of $2,500 in matched funds.
The matching donation program will raise funds to meet critical food, housing, transportation and life support needs for vulnerable individuals and families, particularly in Southeast Ohio. The need for financial support has never been greater as important governmental funding sources are shrinking and the needs of the population in Southeast Ohio are continuing to grow. In 2024, about 22.1% of the population in Athens County was considered below the poverty line (based upon Census Bureau Data) compared to the national average of about 12.4%. In addition, in 2024, 19.3% of the population was living with severe housing problems in Athens County, OH. To address these economic issues, the Scheck Charitable Foundation actively supports local charitable organizations including Good Works, Habitat for Humanity, Southeast Ohio Regional Foodbank and Athens On-Demand Transit Services.
In order to qualify for the matching donation program, donations must be mailed and postmarked by September 15, 2025. Contributions can be made by check or money order to the Scheck Charitable Foundation and mailed to the following address: Scheck Charitable Foundation, P.O. Box 114, Athens, OH 45701. Contributions are considered tax deductible and donation confirmations will be sent to donors providing address information. The Scheck Charitable Foundation feels privileged to be working with you to support the critical housing needs, food requirements and support services for vulnerable residents of Southeast Ohio. Thank you for your generosity and giving spirit.
